Turning leaves into food
Jun. 13th, 2009 04:30 pmI've gone with
chenoameg on a farmshare this year.
It turns out that in early June, most of what grows on a farm is leaves -- my share amounted to 3 bags and a bunch. I've got a plan for turning all of it into food, but it's not clear that I have the will power to eat that much salad.
I'm particularly pleased with how well my larder is stocked; I haven't had to go shopping for a lot of ingredients. I was able to make vinaigrette dressing, toast pecans, garnish with dried cranberries, and add fresh thyme. I'm out of potatoes, so I substituted rice. (That was a failure in shopping skills, not in food storage.)
I shall now post links to the recipes:
Wild mushroom andpotato rice stew
Salad with cranberries and pecans
balsamic vinaigrette
