This week's aloo saag was made with kale, beet greens, some wilted escarole, purple onions and a little bit of cream. It was going to be purple saag until I started reading that Alison Bechdel book.

The cranberry raisin bread doesn't count, because they're farm stand cranberries not farm share cranberries.

The escarole is in sad shape, and needs to be made into bean soup real soon now. (Once it's wilted it is much more cabbage like and much less lettuce like.)

The big orange thing was not in fact a pumpkin but instead was some weird aphrodisiac Japanese squash with a long shelf life. However, I had my heart set on pumpkin pie, so it's in the microwave being cooked to mush right now. I managed not to let it explode in the microwave *and* not to cut any of my fingers off while peeling it, but the first round of microwave-while-whole did not actually cook it completely. Also, one little squash contains more than one pie worth of squash meat. Cans may really be the way to go for punkin pie.

I still have hopes of leek and potato soup; maybe Tuesday?

Edit for escarole recipe: http://www.recipepuppy.com/show/recipe/801029/ The pie is inedible -- too much cloves and the wrong kind of squash.
