Looking for lace-weight yarn
Feb. 14th, 2010 01:05 pmShumashi pointed me to http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ragbrai/nintendo-ds-case-pattern and now I have a Plan.
I want to try knitting a DS case, starting with a Turkish cast-on, knitting with doubled yarn, then separating the strands to knit the pockets with singled yarn. Will that even work?
Do any of you who live near me have scrap lace weight yarn? I guess I need about two socks' worth total, and I don't care how many different dye lots I use. (I'm expecting to knit with size 3 or smaller needles.) I could also use advice on the increases on the "sole" of the case; I've found that yarn-overs tend to leave gaps, as do my attempts to knit twice into one stitch. (Maybe there's something tricky I can do with doubled yarn?)
