"a victory for democracy"

I switched my news feed to the BBC.  Apparently France is working on passing some immensely popular legislation to ban Muslim full face veils:

"Democracy" is no longer synonymous with "the good guys" in my mind.

...sometimes has only one l.  I'd give up and adopt British English as my official language, but then I'd have to remember the number of t's in "British".
