J&E Riggin
Aug. 17th, 2010 05:18 amFriday breakfast was raspberry marmalade pancakes; lunch was congo bars and fajitas. We sailed north over North Haven then down to Winter Harbor on Vinal Haven because the wind was wrong to go between them. Wind turbines! Home made spaghetti! Roast veggies with lemon and cream, and blueberry galette for dessert.
Saturday started with swimming, eggs and hash browns. We had a good wind and got to Stonington early, so we sent Bo to the docks in the peapod and toodled around a lot of little islands with submerged rocks that I would not have willingy taken that boat near. Captain John seems to have enjoyed that immensely; he also has four wooden boats. Lunch was pulled pork, bean salad, cole slaw and Mouse's buns (mayonaise sandwiches!) and caramel gingerbread upside down cake. OMG. Dinner was lobster at Wreck Island. Captain John told stories.
After breakfast we went ashore at Stonington. People started to realize that kelkyag and I aren't sisters. We had great wind but the captain still didn't get to sail between North Haven and Vinal Haven. We anchored in the harbor of expensive houses (Owl's Head?); there was singing and fireworks. Whole wheat biscuits with an assortment of jams for breakfast, then Caprese salad and kale soup with salt and sugar shortbread for dessert, then pork tenderloin. Roast carrots with olive oil and onions -- sooooo good! Dessert was brownie sundaes.
Sticky buns Monday and motoring across the bay to Rockland. I finally got to wear my foul weather gear and I took pictures of lighthouses. More traffic, and boy was I tired when I got home. Photos are up though -- contact me for links!
