Word of the Day

I bought a bathing suit! City Sports is air conditioned, and my apartment isn't, and my old suit is old and doesn't fit well. (Also it bleeds red dye when washed in warm water. What's up with that?)
Anyhow, I read the labels on the racks and chose the largest of a type of suit designed for "longevity" in navy blue with ugly white piping on the straps. (The "coverage" suit had those awful foam cups.) When I asked about changing rooms, Lyn, the salesperson, advised me to take half a dozen suits with me, not just one. She helped me decipher the sizing information and searched the suits for ones that might fit -- she even took the floor model off the plastic torso for me!
So then I had two boring navy blue suits in the largest size available and one purple one designed for racing, of all things, that I grabbed on impulse because it was pretty. Guess what? It was the purple one that actually made it over my hips and fit!
There's a lesson here about elasticity, but I prefer to think that the moral of the story is that it's good to be optimistic.
