It turns out that if you have a favorite restaurant dish, you can search the internet for recipes for that dish.  I think I got "cabbage with carrots and potatoes" while looking for "carrots and cabbage", but that might be due to lack of perception at the restaurant and disagreement over the size of a cabbage.

I do know that the restaurant dish did not bother with adjectives like "thinly" and verbs like "shred".

I want to use this word to describe what was happening to calculus education in the late 90's, in comparison to the convergence of physics education reform in the 0's.  But I think it's not quite the right word.

Note also that valance and valence are two different words.  The former looks like a misspelling of the later to me, which tells you something about my experience and priorities.
