The farmshare produced beets!  I don't know if it was the generous quantity of brown sugar or the pre-processed ginger goo, but today's was the best batch of chocolate beet muffins I've ever produced:

The price of white peaches has fallen below $2/pound at my grocery store, so I'm buying 5 at a time and making small batches of jam in the breadbot.  (Three for jam, two for eating.)

I though the farmshare went belly-up? Or is this the "you can go out to the farm and pick whatever's ready" slow death?

Do white peaches make better jam than yellow peaches?

Huh. I usually think of white peaches as less common and more expensive. I think both Market Basket and S&S have had "eastern" yellow peaches for $2/lb or under recently, though I don't know if either does this week.

I would be surprised if the CSA has money to refund -- I'd expect most of the share cost would go to top-of-season cost, possibly with some set aside for labor and utilities. But also, is the farm share for a fixed quantity of vegetables, or is it for a share of the output of the farm with inherent risk if things go wrong?

But yes, veggies are good! Does this mean I should not try to drag you out vegetable shopping, at least this week? :)
