??? The searches I've poked at really want this to be a typo of algorithm, and almost everywhere it turns up it seems to be such. Typo of the day, or just difficult to google?
It wasn’t a typo but a mispronunciation. I suppose it’s good that the word is getting out, but I’m surprised that otherwise educated individuals aren’t familiar with it.
My earliest memory of the word "algorithm" was hearing someone refer to an "a-logarithm". I'd expect more people to recognize the word now than in the early 80's, though.
