Radiccio is food

mathhobbitSo, the red tinged head of lettuce turned out to be radiccio. Boy, was that a nasty tasting salad!
The thing waited patiently in a damp pillowcase in the fridge for weeks before I got up the courage to cook it, rather than politely rotting. I broiled it according to the instructions in the _Winter Harvest Cookbook_ and it is now food. I even begin to understand how this "kale chips" thing could be anything other than yucky.
