I'm still figuring out this livejournal thing; I hope nobody's un-friended me for useless posts! Let's try again with the Life News.
On Wednesday I got my doctoral regalia in the mail. The University of Washington has purple robes with lots of gold and velvet trim. The hat is octagonal, made of purple velvet, with a gold tassel. Thoughts of that hat kept me going through grad school, and then I graduated in August to take a position in September. No graduation ceremony for me! But yesterday I got to wear it as part of the "platform party" and be recognized for my collaboration efforts. Graduations are still deadly dull, but I get to be purple if I go to them!
On Friday I got the printed copies of my book in the mail. This realizes my childhood dream of becoming an author, even if it isn't a fantasy novel! I've decided that the best use of my few free copies is to distribute them to central locations where friends/relatives/co-workers can borrow & share them. Of course a few will be used as bribes.
My grandmother turned 99. She's the oldest person in Mattapoisett!
I have a week to get ready for the summer semester and I haven't finished everything from the spring semester. I also forgot to bring home the textbook for my summer course.
